7 Months Old

A bit late due to being out of town this past weekend (more on that later).

Our sweet baby girl turned 7 months old and like I say every month I think I love her more now than I did last month (and the month before that... and the month before that...)

Raegan's personality is definitely starting to shine through this past month and I think it is safe to say we really do have one sensitive, yet very loving girl on our hands. She is proving more and more each day to be more like her mom in regards of she is way better one-on-one, rather than in a big crowd. And from what I hear, Eric was a pretty shy kid too, so I guess it's just in her genes. But just as much as she prefers to be in the company of quiet crowd, she also is hilarious! There are some days I have tears in my eyes because she has me laughing so hard.

Raegan's 6th month of life was full of lots of new things, lots of smiles and lots of love:
  • We started solids! Carrots were the first thing she tried and even a month later is still her favorite. We are going slow and really following the every 4 day rule. She actually had a reaction to sweet potatoes, so that put us back a week as we waited for the rash to go away. So far she has tried: Carrots, Sweet Potatoes, Pea, Squash, Banana, Rice Cereal, Oatmeal and Green Beans. Green Beans are probably on the bottom of the list at the moment
  • Sitting has now become second nature and we no longer need to sit with her on the floor because we are scared she will fall over.
  • Raegan loves to hold these small colorful balls we have and bang them together. She gets a kick out of hearing the clanking noise
  • She now understands to look around objects to find a noise or to find a hiding person/thing. This really comes through in the morning when she hears her 80 lb dog running down the hall  to greet her in her room and she pushes my head aside to see him. Dog - #1, Mom - #2
  • Raegan has always seemed to like her bath time, but really never played in the tub. But boy has that changed. Not sure if swim lessons helped or what, but once she sees her tub getting filled up we can't get her changed fast enough.
  • Growth spurts in our house mean less milk consumption. Only my kid would be the opposite. During every growth spurt to-date Raegan typically reduces to food consumption to 1/2 of what she normally would get.
  • On every surface she opens and closes her hand (as if she was waving) and repeats this multiple times as she rubs over the textures. Books, carpet, Keags, toys, everything.
  • Separation anxiety is in full force, if you aren't mom or dad forget it!
  • One of her latest tricks is she grabs her finger with her other hand and pulls her hands up to her forehead. She also does this with toys in her hands. Not sure what she's doing but it's sort of funny.
  • We got a first word.... MOM! Heart...melting!
  • Still in size 2 diapers and 6 months clothes. Yep, still a peanut over here!
Happy 7 Months baby girl, SO looking forward to all of our new firsts next month.
