Cabo Wabo

So Eric and I headed off to Cabo last Thursday, two days after my 28th birthday. Booking a vacation sans baby was something I really struggled with, we went back and forth for weeks about going and then one day at work I just called a travel agent and made her book us something in Cabo. I was just tired of sitting on the decision. Although, two days after paying for our 5 night stay at an all inclusive in Cabo, Eric came home to find me on the kitchen floor sobbing "who leaves their 5 month old baby for a week!?!"

Although now that we did it, I have to say it may have been one of the best decisions we could have made for us. It was fabulous to reconnect, not be one a schedule and just be us again. Our thoughts around going on this vacation was that we are the foundation of this family and while Raegan is always our main concern, Eric and I can't forget about the two that started this whole family. Us! Cabo was seriously a reset button in so many ways.

We stayed at the Dreams Los Cabos, the resort was beautiful, clean and actually really quiet despite the fact that there were kids allowed. There were a few young babies there and of course I had to go chat with their mamas so I could get some of my baby fix in for the day.

Funny thing, we actually almost missed our flight out of Chicago on Thursday morning. Yes me, the person who always sets two or three alarms when I know I need to be up, especially for a flight. Well the alarms were on when I went to bed. Apparently I turned them off in the early morning hours and didn't think twice about it. Good one Katie! The plan was to drop Keags off at Eric's parents house at 4:15 and then they were going to drive us to Ohare for our 7 am flight. Well we got up at 4:45, only 2 hours and 15 minutes from our departure to Cabo! As I ran around the house throwing on any clothes I could find clean I just kept yelling "what do we do what do we do!" Oh I am sure it was quite entertaining!

We ended up having Eric's parents just come pick up Keags and we just took off driving straight to Ohare. Let me just count the ways that we paid for our super late arrival at Ohare (1) long baggage check lines plus long security lines do not help the stress level (2) we had to park at the closest parking lot possible that was a $194 parking bill, awesome (3) in the rush of everything I didn't throw in my battery pack for my pump (yes I still pumped the entire trip and I do believe I deserve a mama of the year award or something for that one) so picture this me not having pumped since the night before and clearly not having time before we left. We got to our gate literally 15 minutes before boarding started, I went to the bathroom saw they only had outlets by the sinks and yeah, totally did something I NEVER though in a million years I would do, stood there at the sink of a public bathroom at the airport and pumped. I hear the cool kids do it! Ha!

Despite our rough start, it was a great week with my husband. I love you babe! Consider this one more thing checked off the summer to-do list, we definitly drank many adult beverages under the Mexican sun!
