So it happened, I’m head over heels in love with this boy. 6 weeks was a big turning point in the Kramer household. There was less screaming coming out of this little boy which made less screaming out of this mama. Don’t get me wrong, this kid still screams, it’s not even a cry, it’s a full on high pitch scream. It’s actually quite impressive. But we are down to being pretty happy most of the day and we have smiles and coos which melt my heart. I think it is safe to say Weston has a favorite person and it’s totally not Eric or I. Raegan is sometimes the only one who can get him to stop crying and if she’s in the room he only has eyes for her. Being an only child and never experiencing this sort of relationship has me in awe of them. Raegan also is the best big sister, she really has surpassed all expectations I had and she really just loves to show him things, sing to him (mostly just the ABC song) and lay as close to him as we’ll let her. Raegan is our snuggle bug and if she’s upset or sad a good hug normally can lift her out of the funk. Well now apparently mommy and daddy don’t do a good enough job and insists on Weston hugging her. Those two, I hope their relationship always continues to grow.
While not quite as fabulous as big sis was a baby (she slept 8 hours straight at 7 weeks), Weston still is a really good sleeper for us. We got him on an official feeding schedule around 5 / 6 weeks and he’s been sleeping 6-7 hours every night since then. His last bottle of the night is at 8:30 and then normally gets up between 2:30/3:30 and then we get him up again at 6 for his morning bottle (last night we slept 8 straight hours…. Keep it up boo-boo). He’s wearing size 1 diapers and 3 month clothes. He seems so much longer than his sister ever way. We have his 2 month well visit later this week so I’m curious where he’ll be weight and height wise.
Around 6 weeks Weston found his tongue and seemed to always be sticking it out and trying to chew on it, then around 7 weeks his hands were found and normally he’ll spit out his paci to get those suckers in his mouth. We have a pretty good bath system set up where both get bathed in the tub at the same time and he totally enjoys all the pampering and warm water. Just like Raegan, he prefers to be held upright vs. laying down in your arms, which up until this week was tricky because you still needed two hands to hold him that way with his neck still wobbly, although he’s getting stronger every day. I have noticed when he’s tired he love to grab on to things to hold like our shirts, his burp rag, his blankie or his clothes. I’m seeing a favorite blanket in his future. Besides grabbing for things when he’s tired, another good indicator is the rough head banging this kid does again your head to try to get comfortable. I’m pretty sure I’ve yelled at him a million times already for hurting me .
We have concluded this month that his eyes were blocked tear ducts and the only thing that will make them better is time. His left eye did totally clear up just one day, although his right eye is still another story. In the morning it’s still typically crusted over and can’t open it until we clean it. The doctors say it should be gone by 1 (good gosh I can’t imagine another 10 months), but we are grateful it isn’t anything serious.
This last month was full of growth and good changes in our house and this family of 4 is starting to feel like we’re getting our sh#t together. Also, can we talk about how different Weston is looking vs. last month!!!!
